Data Center Technician
Location: Grafton, MA
3 months contract on W2 with possible contract to hire
Payrate: $45-$50/hour
About the Role
Client is seeking a Data Center Technician to join its world-class Critical and Technical Services team. In this role, you’ll ensure the reliability and performance of mission-critical infrastructure supporting global data center operations. You’ll work hands-on with mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, maintaining uptime, efficiency, and safety in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
This position is ideal for technically skilled professionals passionate about preventive maintenance, critical systems reliability, and operational excellence.
What You’ll Do
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on data center infrastructure, including UPS systems, PDUs, CRAC units, chillers, pumps, and switchgear.
Conduct daily building walkthroughs, monitor Building Management Systems (BMS), and respond to alarms or abnormal operating conditions.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and HVAC issues, performing repairs or coordinating third-party vendors as needed.
Maintain detailed maintenance and operational logs, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure work meets all safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
Participate in ongoing technical training, safety programs, and certification opportunities to enhance your expertise.
Qualifications
Technical diploma, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in electrical, mechanical, or HVAC disciplines.
1–2 years of experience in data center operations, critical facilities maintenance, or industrial systems preferred.
Understanding of MEP systems, including electrical distribution, cooling systems, and emergency power.
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and meet physical job requirements.
